Envisioned to be an excellent and reputable university in providing educational services, Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) is committed to equipping the students to allow themselves to be life-long innovative learners. To materialize this mission, UM through the Office of International Affairs, supported by One Asia Foundation takes the opportunity to hold a series of courses on Asian Community, . . . more
As a part of the Asian community, I personally believe that I have the accountability to be aware of what is happening around me. I have participated in numerous events to enrich my understanding of the aforesaid issues and OALS was one of them. OALS, through its series of courses, benefitted me in myriad ways possible. Meeting prestigious experts, having fruitful lectures, and acquainting myself with quintessential issues are merely a piece of advantages I acquired during OALS. One of my memorable occasions was when I, together with my team, were granted a scholarship to continue our project in Japan. From that very trip to Japan, I discovered various life lessons pertaining to cultures, diversity, as well as philosophical and moral values that I have faith in to this very day. OALS plays a big role in my life and it would be such a waste of opportunity for you all bright students to miss this chance. I have done my part in OALS and now is your time. Ergo, I vouch for OALS.

OALS is one of the most extraordinary events that I have ever attended. I can learn a lot of knowledge from many aspects, various sources, with many facilities and benefits. OALS helps me to develop and explore myself in unexpected ways. Japan is the witness. And I am very grateful every time I remember it. Through OALS, I can visit Japan and spend unforgettable experience to see and learn the variety of cultures, beauty, and diversity directly.
I feel very lucky and grateful for the precious opportunity from Office of International Affair (OIA) UM and One Asia Foundation (OAF). I strongly recommend you to join the next OALS!

Participating in One Asia Lecture Series is one of the best choices that I have made in my life so far. I was not quite sure that I would have the time to attend the lectures due to my thesis research, but I decided to join it nevertheless. It turned out to be a highly insightful event that reaped a lot of benefits for me. I learned a myriad of knowledge about Asian cuisine and its intricacies in OALS. I also got to receive a scholarship and a trip to Japan to make a cross-cultural video on Japanese culture as a continuation of our OALS project.
I am forever grateful for this experience from OALS, thanks to OIA UM.
By the theme Repositioning Asian Culinary, last year’s OALS was not only about Asian culinary, but also its political process. We learned upaboga, food displacement, identity, diversity, public relations, as well as representations of gender in Asian food. I personally love Indonesia even more for its culinary wealth. Really looking forward to the next OALS!
