Australia-Indonesia Center bekerjasama dengan Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) - Office of International Affairs (OIA UM) dan Jurusan Bahasa Inggris UM, berhasil menggelar pemutaran dan diskusi film yaitu ReelOzInd (Australian-Indonesian Short Film Festival). ) di Gedung A3 Lantai 2 Fakultas Sastra UM. ReelOzInd menawarkan kepada para akademisi dan mahasiswa di Malang sebuah eksposur yang lebih luas tentang produksi bersama film Indonesia-Australia. Ini adalah festival film pendek pertama yang mempertemukan para pembuat film Australia dan Indonesia untuk berbagi karya dan cerita mereka di forum yang sama. Acara ini mengundang 4 pembicara berprestasi untuk berdiskusi dengan peserta: Mahesa Desaga (pembuat film Malang), Herditya Wahyu Widodo, SS, MA (Universitas Negeri Malang), Aubrey Kurniawardhani (Universitas Negeri Malang), Raynaldi Yudhistira (Universitas Negeri Malang).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Acara ini dihadiri oleh sekitar 200 peserta, termasuk beberapa dosen Jurusan Bahasa Inggris UM dan mahasiswa di Malang. ReelOzInd dibuka secara resmi oleh Ketua Jurusan Bahasa Inggris UM, Dr. Suharyadi. Setelah itu, Direktur OIA UM, Dr. Evi Eliyanah memberikan penjelasan singkat tentang acara tersebut. ReelOzInd adalah film produksi bersama antara Australia dan Indonesia. Tema tahun ini ReelOzInd adalah Perubahan. Peserta akan mendapatkan lebih banyak pengetahuan tentang film. Dimoderatori oleh Faizah Zakiyah Darojad (Universitas Negeri Malang), ReelOzInd mempersembahkan 11 film yang akan dibicarakan: Home (Sineas Muda Terbaik), Melangun (Fiksi Sebutan Khusus), Pilgrimage (Special Mention Fiction), Perabuan \/ On Ashes (Special Mention Documentary), Bad Hair Day (Special Mention Animation), My name is Mohamed and Raghad, We don't existing here (Best Fiction), Munchies (Special Mention Animation), Divergensi (Special Mention Young Filmmaker), Polychromatic (Special Mention Documentary), A Daughter's Memory (Film Terbaik, Animasi Terbaik), dan Posko Palu (Jim Schiller Prize untuk Kolaborasi Terbaik antara Sineas Australia dan Indonesia) (Terbaik Dokumenter).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sebelas film pendek tersebut menarik para peserta dan pembicara untuk melakukan diskusi panel. Mereka berbagi ide tentang film pendek. Film pendek merupakan film yang efektif untuk menyampaikan pesan dari film tersebut. Dalam menginterpretasikan sebuah film, penonton dapat memiliki pemikiran yang berbeda dari pembuat film tentang pesan yang akan disampaikan, dan itu boleh saja. Asalkan masih mengusung tema. Dalam pembuatan film, pembuat film harus memahami esensi film dan menambah pengetahuan (dengan membaca, mengalami situasi tertentu, atau lainnya). Itulah semangat filmnya. The Australia-Indonesia Centre in collaboration with Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) – the Office of International Affairs (OIA UM) and the Department of English UM, had successfully held a film screening and discussion, namely, ReelOzInd (Australian-Indonesian Short Film Festival) in A3 Building, 2nd Floor, Faculty of Letters, UM. A short film is an effective film to deliver the message of the film. In interpreting a film, the viewers can have different ideas from the filmmaker about the message, and it is fine. As long as it still brings the theme. In filmmaking, the filmmaker should understand the essence of the film and gain more knowledge (by reading, experiencing a specific situation, or others).
