Scholarship

Universitas Negeri Malang International Student Scholarship (UM-ISS) is a prestigious scholarship offered by UM to provide access for highly qualified international students around the world to pursue a degree program at UM, Indonesia. This scholarship consists of 4 schemes as follows :

  • Asean Research
  • BIPA Teachers

Each scheme offers different scholarship coverage for highly qualified international applicants to pursue their bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Universitas Negeri Malang, Indonesia. It is disbursed for a maximum period of 5 years for Undergraduate, 3 for Master’s, and 4 years for Doctoral (inclusive of language program), on condition that the scholarship awardee maintains a record of good academic performance, obtains a recommendation from 2 lecturers, conduct compliant with university codes, etc. This program facilitates scholars and students from around the world to experience not only the dynamic of higher education in Indonesia, but also the vibes of Indonesian cultural diversities. UM-ISS also offers an exclusive experience of expanding knowledge about various cultures while studying in Malang city.

*Students may only need to pursue the BIPA program for 1 semester. For BIPA Teachers scholarship scheme did not need to pursue BIPA program.

NOTE : The minimum score for the English proficiency test is 500 for TOEFL and 6 for IELTS, and the certificate must be obtained within the last two years. Applicants who wish to apply for the doctorate program must provide one publication for scheme 2 and two publications for ASEAN research scheme.

Submit your application no later than 31 April 2024.

The accepted candidates will be announced on June 2024.

How to Apply

  • Visit the UM ISS website;
  • Create an account and fill in the required data;
  • Check your email and activate your account;
  • Log in to your account by filling in your email, and password;
  • In the ‘Registration Status’ page, make sure to choose “degree” in the registration type;
  • Choose your desired scheme and degree, and click the ‘Submit’ button once you’ve completed the process.
  • Fill in all the required data in ‘My Application’ section;
  • Add your personal details by clicking the ‘Add’ button;
  • Complete the required information about education background by clicking the ‘Add’ button and click ‘submit’;
  • Upload all required documents, download an example, select files, and choose categories. Passport-size photo scans in JPG/PNG format, while other documents are in PDF format, with maximum size 5 MB.
  • In the last section, please complete the additional required information evidently;
  • Before submission, review all information and documents to ensure they are free from any errors or omissions;
  • To submit your application, click on the ‘Submit’ button located on the left side menu;
  • Select your faculty and study program, select the UM ISS option for registration, and click submit once completed;
