The Office of International Affairs (OIA) of Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) conducted a roadshow to introduce its International Inbound and Outbound Programs to students at UM Campus 3 in Blitar. The socialization session was attended by approximately 100 students, most of whom are students of the Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) Study Program. The activity aimed to provide students with information about various international mobility opportunities and encourage them to gain global exposure during their university studies.
Through the program, students were introduced to a range of international opportunities, including student exchange, short-term academic programs, international courses, cultural programs, and teaching mobility initiatives such as the SEA-Teacher Project. These programs allow students to study, teach, collaborate, and interact with students and educators from different countries. For PGSD students in particular, international experiences can provide valuable perspectives on education systems, teaching practices, classroom management, and cultural diversity.
The initiative also supports UM’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. International mobility can strengthen students’ intercultural competence, global awareness, and professional skills while creating opportunities for academic collaboration between institutions across countries. As future teachers, PGSD students are expected to become educators who can bring broader global perspectives into their classrooms and contribute to preparing younger generations for an increasingly interconnected world.
The roadshow in Blitar is part of OIA UM’s efforts to expand access to internationalization opportunities beyond the main campus and ensure that students from different UM campuses have equal opportunities to participate in global programs. Through direct information sharing and engagement with students, OIA hopes to encourage more students at Campus 3 to actively participate in international programs, develop their global competencies, and become future educators with both strong professional capabilities and meaningful international experience.
