Malang – Office of International Affairs Universitas Negeri Malang held an event called Indonesian Day and chose “Dolanan” as the main theme of the event. Indonesian Day was a special event for International Students which successfully held on Sunday, 24th November 2019. Dolanan was chosen as the theme of the event in order to introduce Indonesian traditional games to the international students.
Indonesian Day was started at 10 am at the A2 Field of Universitas Negeri Malang. The international students looked so excited to the list of traditional games that they were going to try. They tried some games such as balap kelereng, balap karung, rangkuk alu, bakiak, sonda (engklek), dan gobak sodor in this event. Before they started the game, they had to do hompipah to decide the groups. They were divided into two groups which had to compete during the games. The first round was a relay race of balap kelereng, balap karung, and bakiak. In the next round, they played rangkuk alu, sonda, and the last is gobak sodor. In this event, the international students were introduced and given a chance to play six different traditional games, but their favourite was sonda. They were so excited when they played sonda. Finally, the event was ended by giving off the presents to the winner and closed by a photo session around 12 p.m.
