Gala Dinner Bersama Bank BTN & Closing Ceremony UM iCamp 2019

Thursday, 22 August 2019, was the last day of UM iCamp 2019. A Closing Ceremony and Gala Dinner of UM iCamp 2019 was hosted at Sasana Budaya building, 2nd floor, Universitas Negeri Malang (UM). Stakeholders, representative of Malang Regency, representatives of sponsorships (Bank BNI, Bank BRI, Bank BTN, Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS), Java Boutique Hotel, Ubud Hotel, Bank Banten, Make Over, Number9 Le Minerale), the representative Malang Immigration Office Class I, the officials of Universitas Negeri Malang, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) Team, international students of Universitas Negeri Malang, all the participants and committees of UM iCamp 2019 attended the closing ceremony.

An opening dance performance was performed by STKAK (​Sanggar Tari dan Karawitan Asri Kusuma ) Universitas Negeri Malang. They performed Bapang dance, a dance from Malang. After the performance, everybody had a moment of silence, continued with singing Indonesian anthem, Indonesia Raya. The Vice Rector 1, Prof. Dr. Budi Sucipto, delivered a speech after, so did Nabhan F. Choiron (UM iCamp 2019 program director) and Bapak Made Arya Wedhantara (the head of Culture and Tourism Office of Malang Regency). After that, the next session was giving Token of Appreciation by the director UM iCamp 2019, followed by a photo session with all the stakeholders/sponsorships and the officials of Universitas Negeri Malang.

The next session was performances. The first performance was all the participants and LOs wearing costumes to perform Indonesian traditional dances: ​Jawa Timuran dance (Cunduk Menur, Jathilan, Caplokan, and Warokan). They were performing such a great performance, like a festival. The second performance was the Liaison Officers (LOs) dancing bachata. The next session was testimony by 2 volunteers of the participants (Pratikshya Tripathee from Nepal and Minh Tuan Bui from Australia) and 2 volunteers of the committees (Rahmad Hidayat from Indonesia and Erwin Sylvester Joseph from Malaysia). They said thank you very much for everybody for making this amazing UM iCamp 2019 possible. UM iCamp 2019 gave a priceless experiences and memory in a lifetime, new friends and family. The next session was a special awarding for the participants. The participants and committees were sitting on the floor in front of the stage.

The next and last session was the official closing. The director of the OIA UM and UM iCamp 2019 program director officially closed the UM iCamp 2019. “Spending time with all of you for a week was a great memory and time. Thank you everyone for all the efforts to make this event successfully hosted. Your every drop of sweat is so much precious. This is not the end, this is our beginning. Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. I officially close the program. See you again! ​Sampai jumpa!” Evi Eliyanah (director of OIA UM) and Nabhan F. Choiron (UM iCamp 2019 program director) said.

Before the ceremony was closed, a recap video, a funny moments video, and a music video clip of UM iCamp 2019 were played to bring the memories back before they went back to their respective countries. Everybody was feeling nostalgic. They felt happy. The closing ceremony ended in dancing together. All the participants, committees, and anybody who attended the event were dancing bachata dance, ​Lagi Syantiek dance, and Taki-Taki dance. At the end of the ceremony, all the participants and committees of UM iCamp 2019 were taking pictures all together.

Broaden Your Vistas, Elevate Your Global Endeavour. The participants of UM iCamp had learned lots of things and gaining more experiences. They learned about Indonesia, practicing Bahasa Indonesia, attending the Indonesian Independence Ceremony and celebration, how to make batik, dancing Indonesian traditional dance, getting immersed in the Indonesian life, how to play gamelan, playing Indonesian traditional games, having conversation in Bahasa Indonesia with local people, making new friends, having Bromo trip and beach trip, and many more. Their experiences and memories will bring the participants to be ready to face their next journeys and experiences.
