On 22 April 2026, a monitoring meeting for The Indonesian Aid Scholarship (TIAS) program was held at the Meeting Room, 3rd Floor, Graha Rektorat, Universitas Negeri Malang (UM). The activity was attended by representatives from the Directorate of Institutional Affairs under the Directorate General of Higher Education, the International Development Cooperation Fund Institution (LDKPI), and the Education and Culture Attaché (Atdikbud) of Port Moresby. The visit reflected the strong commitment of all stakeholders to ensuring the effective implementation and sustainability of the TIAS scholarship program for international students.

During the meeting, the monitoring team conducted a comprehensive review of the academic progress, student welfare, and overall development of TIAS awardees at UM. The team emphasized that regular monitoring is an essential part of the scholarship management process, as it helps ensure that students receive adequate academic support and are able to adapt successfully to their learning environment. This continuous evaluation also allows institutions to identify challenges early and provide timely solutions to support student success.

The representatives from the involved institutions expressed their appreciation for Universitas Negeri Malang’s dedication in managing the TIAS program and fostering a supportive academic atmosphere for international students. They noted that the monitoring process is routinely carried out to closely observe the progress of TIAS students, both academically and personally, as part of a broader effort to strengthen international educational cooperation between Indonesia and partner countries, particularly Papua New Guinea.

This initiative also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education dan SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by promoting inclusive access to higher education and strengthening international collaboration in human resource development. Through programs such as TIAS, UM continues to contribute to global efforts in building equitable educational opportunities and fostering sustainable partnerships across nations.
