Learning Indonesian language and culture is one of the aims of UM iCamp 2019 offered to international students from all over the world. The participants wanted to learn about Indonesia through this program. One of the agendas on 16 August 2019 is About Indonesia as the first lecture. This aimed to give insight about Indonesia to the participants. The one who gave the participants insight about Indonesia is Meidinar, one of the LOs (Liaison Officer)s of this program.

Beginning at 10 am in the meeting room of the Office of International Affairs Universitas Negeri Malang (OIA UM), the participants learned about some facts in Indonesia: knowing the population of Indonesian (Javanese is the largest ethnic in Indonesia), knowing Borneo is the second largest island in the world, getting to know about the meaning of the Indonesian national symbol (The Garuda), some popular foods (bakso, angsle, sempol, soto, rendang), Bahasa Malangan (Walikan), greetings in Bahasa Indonesia, and Dangdut Dance.

While learning about Indonesia, there were also some games played to learn more about Indonesia. They were divided into 4 groups. Each group contained of 15 people. The first game was rearranging the picture of Indonesian islands on a map. The participants would understand the map of Indonesia. The second game was guessing some facts about Indonesia. They were asked to guess the capital city of Bali, the number of people living in Java island, the name of local language in Malang, the amount of local languages in Papua, and guessing the name of some Indonesian food. The final game was Dangdut Dance Challenge. One volunteer from each group need to dance with dangdut music to get some extra points to win the whole game.

Broaden Your Vistas, Elevate Your Global Endeavor. Knowing some facts about Indonesia will gain their knowledge about Indonesia. Together in learning about Indonesia through some games and discussion, this will lead the participants to interact with each others. They are here in UM iCamp 2019 to meet new people and new cultures. They will gain more global experience and perspectives with the mind wide open.
