Malang — On April 29, 2019, the Office of International Affairs of Universitas Negeri Malang invited two special lectures for the sixth meeting of One Asia Lecture Series (OALS). The first lecturer was Prof. A. Effendi Kadarisman, a prominent professor of English Department of Universitas Negeri Malang. He is also an expert in linguistics. The second lecturer was Prof. Eko Armada Riyanto, a professor from STFT Widya Sasana Malang.
This sixth meeting was held at the Aula Fakultas Ekonomi, 2nd floor of E3 building. It was started at 08.50 a.m. by the first lecture of “Local Wisdom Values as Tools of Conflict Resolution” presented by Prof. Eko Armada Riyanto. In his lecture, Prof. Riyanto explained how local wisdom values can be the tools of conflict resolution, especially in Indonesia. This topic was really attracting the participants’ attention.
Following Prof. Riyanto’s presentation, there was a second lecture under the topic of “Maaf dan Perdamaian” presented by Prof. A. Effendi Kadarisman. Within the lecture, the participants were attracted by some tricks to maintain peace through the language used. Moreover, they were also amused by some linguistic jokes presented by Prof. Kadarisman which make the lecture more alive.
At the end of the lectures, there was a question and answer session. The participants were really enthusiast and ask various interesting questions. After the question and answer session, there was a giving of Token of Appreciation to both of the lecturers and followed by a photo session. Finally, this sixth meeting was ended at 11.30 p.m. by the MC.
