Cultural acculturation, Unifying Nation and Country

Yesterday (30/9), Confucius Institute (known as Pusat Bahasa Mandarin) held Confucius Institute Day 2018. This event was held in association with the 11th anniversary ofConfucius Institute and to celebrate the 3rd years of cooperation between Confucius Institute and Universitas Negeri Malang.
This event, opened with traditional dance from the Red Dragon country, started at 08:30 AM. After that, the Director of Pusat Bahasa Mandarin Ms. Liao Guirong (Ms. Ana) gave a welcoming speech followed by the Director of Office of International Affairs, Mr. Yazid Basthomi. The guests of Confucius Institute Day 2018 are not only from Universitas Negeri Malang, but also form other universities and school that have Mandarin Language program such as Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang, Universitas Brawijaya, and Bina Bangsa School Malang.
This event aims to introduce Chinese Culture to Indonesia, so Indonesians know more about the culture of the Red Dragon Country. They introduce Mandarin culture not only by promoting Mandarin as the main language, but also by performing some traditional dances and songs from China presented by academic community; Universitas Negeri Malang, Muhammadiyah University of Malang, Brawijaya University, and Ma Chung University. As another form of introduction, Confucius Institute Day 2018 offers six traditional games thatthe guests could participate. After particiating on the games, the guests were invited to taste Chinese food that the committee prepared. Before going home, there is a lottery to choose the winner of the games and to get reward from the committee.
