MoU Signing Ceremony between Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) and Yala Rajabhat University (YRU)

On Friday, 19th April 2024, Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) and Yala Rajabhat University (YRU) from Thailand signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Graha Rektorat, Universitas Negeri Malang. The signing marks the strengthening of the collaboration between Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) and Yala Rajabhat University (YRU).

The delegates from Yala Rajabhat University, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sirichai Namburi, the Acting President of YRU, was warmly welcomed by UM. The presence of the YRU delegates signifies not only the representation of their esteemed institution but also the potential for fostering stronger ties between the two nations in the broader sector.

As a neighboring country with a rich cultural heritage and diverse history, Thailand offers numerous opportunities for Indonesian students and academics to broaden their global perspectives. Collaboration with Yala Rajabhat University not only opens doors for students and academics to enhance their knowledge but also deepens valuable cross-cultural understanding. both UM and YRU offered recommendations for collaboration in specific areas, such as research and practical teaching. Furthermore, collaboration in other fields is also highly feasible.

The collaboration was initiated by the former President of Yala Rajabhat University (YRU), Asst. Prof. Dr. Sombat Yotathip, and the former Rector of the Universitas Negeri Malang (UM), Prof. Rofiuddin, in 2015. This partnership has resulted in productive collaborations across various fields, including student and faculty exchange programs, student internships, research, and community service. Previous collaborations in the Faculty of Mathematics and Science and Faculty of Letter of both universities have also played a significant role in strengthening the foundation of this collaboration.

Prof. Dr. Hariyono, M.Pd., emphasizes that the change in leadership does not alter UM’s commitment to fostering collaboration. On the contrary, UM sees it as an opportunity to strengthen and expand this partnership to create more opportunities for exchanging knowledge and experiences between the two universities.

UM expresses its gratitude for the excellent collaboration from all parties involved and looks forward to future meetings. This visit marks a positive beginning towards establishing a closer and sustainable relationship between Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) and Yala Rajabhat University (YRU).
