Project Based Learning 2019 (Day 5)

Malang – The fifth day of Project Based Learning 2019, Friday, July 19, took place in Dusun Sidorejo, Desa Purwodadi, Kecamatan Donomulyo, Kabupaten Malang. After breakfast, participants began with the several of activities. The first activity that they did is following a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with Village Bureaucratic Leaders at Dusun Sidorejo with Mr. Rahmat and Mr. Miut. Both as the speaker. They told about the conditions and the problems of migrant’ families which are problems of children who left by their parents due to their parents worked as migrant workers (Indonesian Workers), the economic condition of their family left behind as well as divorce which often happened  in migrant families  (people who work abroad). The participants are allowed to ask questions about information regarding those problems.

The first Focus Group Discussion ended at 11:00 a.m., and then continued with lunch break time. The second Focus Group Discussion activity began at 1:30 p.m., with the representative of Sekolah Peduli and Lembaga Pengembangan Pusat Pelayanan Terpadu Pemberdayaan Perempuan dan Anak (LP3TP2A) as the speaker. The discussion went well since the participants were active to ask and explore the information about the role of Sekolah Peduli and LP3TP2A, as well as solutions to problems related to children of migrant worker who left behind by their parents. After the FGD finished, each group was allowed to explore the village to find out more information about the conditions of the migrant worker village by interviewing the villagers.

The next activity is observing in the Taman Pendidikan Al-Quran in this village. The participants were very excited to participate in this activity. They helped and taught children to understand English. The children were happy as well since the participants of PBL gave them new experiences. Today’s activity ended with dinners and routine gymnastics in this village.
