University of Tokyo Summer Internship Program is a six weeks internship program held by University of Tokyo for international student as a great way to complete summer internship in Japan as well as a good opportunity to support their future career at their own majors.

 

UTSIP is a fully funded internship for international student who are studying Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Studies, Information Technology, International Studies, Materials Sciences, Advanced Energy, Ocean Science, Physics and Sustainability Science Studies as their majors.

 

Note that the UTSIP Japan Summer Internship 2019 Kashiwa is different from UTRIP Summer Internship in Japan 2019  & University of Tokyo Summer Internship Program Japan 2019. Undergraduate students can apply for the UTRIP Internship in Japan. Kashiwa Campus will be the place for UTSIP Japan Summer Internship 2019 Kashiwa.

 

Here are the benefits UTSIP provided:

  • 110,000 JPY scholarship (enough for six weeks)
  • Free accommodation arranged by UTSIP
  • Health insurance plan, GSFS provides
    • Death or Physical Disability benefits: 1 million yen
    • Medical Benefits: 1 million yen
    • Liability: 100 million yen
    • All travel expenses are participants responsibility
    • Mention if you have apply or will apply for another internship. Also Applicants are encouraged to apply a financial aid

Internship duration: 6 weeks

 

Requirements:

  • Participants must be on their undergraduate program throughout UTSIP internship
  • Participants had to matriculate graduate level study at the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences or other graduate schools at The University of Tokyo, or elsewhere in Japan
  • Participant must participate on all program organized by UTSIP including classes, laboratory work, and special events.
  • Documents that include:
  • Cover letter, consist of specific reason on why did you chose that laboratory and what hopes did you expect upon completing this program. Also, describe how did you qualified to conduct research on your selected laboratory and explain your believe on your skill and experience to carry out this research project (500 to 700 words in total).
  • Curriculum Vitae (2-3 pages A4 sized), including:
  • Copy of your transcript (in English or Japanese)
  • Recommendation letter
  • Certificate of registration
  • Certificate of English proficiency
  • Copy of passport
  • Picture in digital data
